See Diyer Play Doom Original in an IKEA Bulb Discepted

Making the original Doom game running on a light hardware has been transformed over the years, since the Diyers embrace more and more strange and fun devices. We have seen the game on old iPods, digital cameras, Apple watch, graphics calculators, printers and more. The last article added to the list is a dissected bulb of IKEA.

The new project comes from the YouTube Next-Hack channel, which explains the process that entered this construction. The Diyers took an IKEA Trådfri RGB GU10 LED bulb and harvested its various bits and pieces. The bulb offers only 108KB of RAM and 1 MB of internal flash storage.

Of course, that is not enough for a fully functional game, which is where a 1.8-inch 1.8-inch 1.8-inch 1.8-inch 1.8-inch tft screen arrived. The equipment used an external Flash SPI to store the WAD file of Doom. The complete details of the project, including part numbers and software, can be found on the Next-Hack website.

The team indicates that the DOOM port can be used as a basis for other DIY projects involving very limited RAM. In addition, the next hack says that there is some space to improve the project, although ultimately it was an overwhelming success. Someone who wanted to make his own portable DOOM game device could follow the instructions and finish with a functional product.

For those who want to experience the nostalgia to play the classic game of Doom, but they are not interested in disarming a light bulb, there are other options. Bethesda brought updated versions of Doom and Doom II to Android and iOS stores, not a long time ago, which means you can play them on your smartphone or tablet. Games have a price of $ 4.99 / each.
